Cory Scott Whittier
President & Founder
What 25 years in direct response fundraising and marketing have taught me is that the best thing I can do for your organization is to help you see both the
forest and the trees. My goal is to combine dedication to campaign details with strong design sense and copy flair - while never taking our eye off your
big picture. As President and Founder of Whittier & Associates, it's my job to make sure we're always applying the best strategies, resources and practices
to those goals, whether it's for a long-term campaign or a short-term project. What we're committed to is helping you increase donor/member awareness,
retention, loyalty and revenue.
Working with progressive mission-based organizations is my passion. Through our clients' and my own personal experiences, I strive for sensitivity to social
and economic differences and honest campaigns that are donor-centric. We have developed several long-term relationships with clients we care about, and I
believe my business experience and a problem-solving collaborative approach have played a role in this.
I'm proud of my fundraising resume. I served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Strub Dawson Inc., the first agency to successfully create
direct mail strategies for AIDS and gay causes. I got my start in direct marketing and fundraising creative at the side of fundraising-greats, Kay Lautman and
Harold Goldstein of The Oram Group - America's first direct mail fundraising agency. I'm long-time member of the Direct Mail Fundraisers Association and the
Association of Fundraising Professionals. W&A is a member agency of the Association of Direct Response Fundraising Counsel (ADRFCO).
In addition to W&A, my husband, Robert Mankoff, Cartoon Editor of The New Yorker, and I also founded The Cartoon Bank - the first and largest
searchable database of magazine style cartoons in the world - which was subsequently acquired by The New Yorker. In my role as Vice-President of
Marketing and Operations, I helped grow the company into a multi-million dollar business by creating an aggressive marketing campaign that included direct
mail and e-mail to increase traffic and online web presence.
I live in Westchester with my husband. My grown son, David, lives in Boston and my daughter, Sarah, attends Barnard College in New York. When not pursuing
your direct marketing fundraising program, I spend as much time as I can riding my horse.
